I’ve never appreciated Google Docs more than I do now. I’m organizing the approximately 400 entries that we’ve received for our 10th annual HD Awards—and getting all the materials ready for the jury’s consideration.
Speaking of which, we’ve finalized our judges! We’ve assembled an amazing group of hospitality designers and professionals who will pore over each category’s submissions, selecting those they feel are the cream of the crop. Here they are:
David Davis, Managing Principal, Rottet Studio
Hal Goldstein, Partner, Janson Goldstein
Michael Medzigian, Chairman and Managing Partner, Watermark Capital Partners
Glenn Wilson, Vice President, Global Design Services, JW and MH Brands, Marriott International
Robert Polacek, Chief Creative Officer and Partner, Puccini Group
I certainly don’t envy their assignment—I am amazed at the breadth and talent of design I’ve seen in the submissions so far, and I don’t even have an iota of the experience these professionals do. From luxury hotels to restaurants, bathrooms to nightclubs, our submissions across 20 categories represent the full spectrum of this industry. Most interesting to me, though, is the “Other” category. In my brief time with the magazine I’ve been consistently surprised at all the projects that actually fit under the hospitality umbrella, and there’s an incredible variety represented here.
HD Award winners will be notified mid-April and featured in our June issue. Meanwhile, the coordinating doesn’t stop for me as awards project manager, or the rest of the HD team, because now we will turn to organizing the actual HD Awards ceremony, which will take place June 4 at the Grand Hyatt New York. Stay tuned for updates and registration information.
Again, a special thanks to everyone who submitted projects for this year’s awards. Best of luck!
Now, back to my spreadsheets.
