Last year, we decided to take a chance and try our hand at Facebook Live. We thought, we have this incredible platform to share the stories of the designs we showcase in our magazine with a wider audience, why not show our readers what it’s like to walk through the actual space? Thus, the idea took shape and we invited Kemper Hyers, senior vice president of of Starwood Capital, to talk about the beautiful and opulent Baccarat Hotel with editor in chief Stacy Shoemaker Rauen.
Soon, we were traveling to the West Village to check out the Printing House with Workshop/APD; NoMad to look at the Arlo with AvroKO; Brooklyn’s hip Dumbo neighborhood to see Mark Zeff’s industrial chic offices and Blackbarn retail space; Union Square to explore the new Union Square Cafe with Rockwell Group; and most recently to Wimberly Interiors‘ 50 Bowery hotel. We’ve have even taken our Facebook Lives on the road: to Chicago to tour Simeone Deary‘s LondonHouse and La Cantera Resort in San Antonio by Looney & Associates. We also checked in on the women-owned distillery Republic Restoratives in Washington, DC with Mapos.

It’s been rewarding to tour these 10 spaces with the designers who created them (despite the shaky camera work and very raw aesthetic), and we’ll continue to bring these videos to you with our next Facebook Live scheduled for September 6th in Toronto at the Broadview Hotel with DesignAgency partner Matt Davis.
