Two top-flight designers, one veteran procurement and sourcing professional, and one prolific owner/operator of hotels and restaurants: This is the quartet of industry stalwarts who will be honored at this year’s Platinum Circle ceremony. For more than three decades, honorees have covered the gamut of hospitality executives, and this year is no exception:
Anda Andrei, president of Anda Andrei Design, has a portfolio bursting with landmark projects, first as Ian Schrager’s design maven, and then as head of her own firm. Influential hotel projects such as the Delano, the Royalton, the Gramercy Park Hotel, and 11 Howard sprung from her creative sensibility, and just recently her stunning iStar hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey, won multiple HD Awards earlier this year.
Halfway around the world, Bill Bensley has been creating magical resorts since 1989 that are not only beautiful but environmentally sound. Based in Bangkok and Bali, Bensley is known for projects that are literally eye-popping, such as the Four Seasons Koh Samui and Oue Twin Peaks, to name just two.
Joan Cardy of the Toronto-based the Cardy Group has been the go-to purchaser for dozens of designers. Baccarat, Waldorf-Astoria, Auberge, W, and Ritz-Carlton are just a handful of brands that have benefitted by her taste, professionalism, and expertise.
And Walter Isenberg, who founded the Denver-based Sage Hospitality more than three decades ago, has seen his company grow to one of the major forces of hotels and restaurants in the country. More than 75 hotels flourish underneath its banner, and, since 2006, Sage Restaurant Group, as individual and design-driven as the hotels before them, have appeared in 14 U.S. cities. Isenberg and Sage also have a deep commitment to charitable causes and community programs that have raised millions.
Plans are afoot to make this a spectacular black-tie-festive event on November 14 at the newly renovated Ziegfeld Theater in midtown Manhattan. (Movie buffs will remember this as one of the last of the grand movie palaces of the city, and though we lament their passing, we’re comforted that the new space will create its own history.) Platinum Circle will be one of the Ziegfeld’s first major parties, so we hope you’ll be there to celebrate these four outstanding industry figures. We promise you a joyful evening. Tickets are available now at www.hdplatinumcircle.com.
